Origins/Source/Inspiration- Carnelian/Faceted Cut Gemstones from Brazil. Carnelian is a reddish stone. A variety of chalcedony, a type of quartz. It varies from semi-opaque to translucent, and it can be various shades of red or amber.
Faceted Carnelian drops, approximate size 20x7mm. I constructed a simple wire bail for the gemstone to hang from the hand-forged ear wire. French style ear wires that I hand-forged. All made in 14KYG. Total length of these earrings 40mm.
This design is very simple. I wanted it to be all about the gemstone and to be very comfortable for wear. I just loved this pair of carnelian's bright shade of orange, sculptural shape and very pretty facets.
