Sarah's Bespoke Ring

Sarah's Bespoke Ring

I made this bespoke ring for a dear friend. Before becoming a therapist, Sarah had been a jeweler. She's always loved the warm rich hue of 18 karat yellow gold and had a little bit left over from her jewelry making days. I sent it off to the refinery, along with the white gold setting once I'd removed her diamond.
Sarah's original engagement ring was from her husband's family.  They have been married for over 20 years.  The original, featured the diamond in a high prong setting.  With the new design, she wanted a low profile bezel setting for the diamond and for me to design something with her style in mind.
Sarah's a Leo and I had a thought to add a couple of Spinels. This gemstone has recently been added as a contemporary birthstone for August.
Being subdued with her color palette, I knew she would love the look of a grey spinel. I had a couple of matching spinels sent to me on memo. Showing her the wax carving of the ring before casting, we decided on the darker ones to pair with her beautiful diamond. I also added a slight texture that has a constellation motif. I had created this texture for a previous bespoke project and Sarah liked the surface pattern, but asked for the constellation engravings to be slightly more subtle.
Having lunch with Sarah, I just had to take a photo of her lovely ring.
It's such a treat to see her often and know that what I created for her is worn daily with love and appreciation.
Her husband, Ron is a fantastic potter and I have many of his functional pots like this vase.
I couldn't resist pairing it with Sarah's ring for a photo.

I took this image of snowdrops last year with Ron's vase and plate.
The snowdrops are in full bloom again this year.
